About.

A LITTLE MORE DETAIL ABOUT ME

I’m a 50-something father of three children (currently 18, 14, and 11), living in Beachlands, Auckland. My lovely wife is an artist (www.saralangdon.com) and we’ve been married for 22 years this year.

My almost-full-time job is as a CAD/BIM Manager in Engineering, working for a tunnelling/underground structures consultancy. I use AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and Autodesk Forma, building 3D models and creating drawings for engineering infrastructure. (Due to this, my coaching tends to be evenings and weekends, but with flexible working arrangements, occasional daytime appointments are doable too.)

Having been raised in church, in Whangarei, and later in Auckland, I have continued to be involved in those communities and volunteered in music teams and leadership in various ways. (I started out playing bass even before Delirious and Hillsong were a thing!)

Alongside the highly technical work in my day job, the faith community can provide lots of opportunity for less formal but otherwise structured training around people-skills, leadership, counselling and the like, and I’ve done plenty of that over the years… but more recently I very much enjoyed gaining a formal qualification, having graduated with a Graduate Diploma in Theology in May 2024.

It was at this graduation that I was introduced to coaching, and that journey I’ve talked about elsewhere on the site.

Aside from the music, I dabble in a bit of photography, writing, and appreciate a good red wine.

Competency

Professional Training & Competency

In discovering coaching, I wanted to ensure I got good, formal training, and this is the process I’m in at the moment. My training and accreditation is through International Coaching Federation, having recognised them as a global body, and recommended by professionals in the field.

The track I chose is the ACC (Associate Certified Coach) ICF Credential. Having completed the Core Skills training, I’m now in the practice and mentoring stage of that track.

My mentor-coach is an ICF MCC (Master Certified Coach) with a M.Th. and Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision, and I am engaged in ongoing one-on-one supervision as well as skills development.

You should expect our coaching session to comply with ICF Core Competencies and align with Confidentiality and Ethics per my statement below.

Coaching is helping you be better at you.

The Sessions

WHY THE INITIAL FREE SESSIONS?

One of the benefits of coaching is the process can be powerful despite little prior knowledge or relationship between the coach and client, but I trust knowing a little of my background assists in your consideration of my services.

Part of the reason most coaches offer the initial free sessions is to help you get a sense of what coaching will be like, and if you are happy to continue. From that point, I will send you a Coaching agreement which goes into a bit more detail about coaching, ethics and terms and conditions, some of which is outlined below.

Of course, if you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.

ABOUT COACHING

Coaching is a collaborative conversation designed to help you reflect, clarify what matters most, and move toward meaningful goals in your life or work. Coaching provides a structured space to think clearly, explore possibilities, and identify practical next steps.

We can explore ideas, values, and challenges across the many paths that life takes. As a coach, my perspective is shaped by a Christian worldview, and if appropriate and welcome, conversations may include reflection on faith or spiritual perspectives but only if/when they are meaningful to you. This is about your journey, not mine.

I want to get our conversation working to help you be better at you.

Ethics

Confidentiality & Ethics

As a professional coach I abide by the International Coach Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics which you can learn more about here. What you share in coaching will be treated with care and respect. Personal information will remain confidential and will not be shared without your permission.

Exceptions may apply where disclosure is required by law, or where there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else.

For coach-credentialing purposes your name and email address only, not the contents of your coaching, may be given to the International Coach Federation for the purposes of logging professional hours, and then destroyed.
